The Enigma Complex
This was the final project for the MsC in Digital Games. We had this crazy idea of a multiplayer point-and-click adventure game. The setup was a mysterious underground lab that suddenly loses contact with the surface. Strange things start to happen and you have to survive the week before the rescue team arrives. We took the idea from different board games (like Cluedo) and also classic role playing (like D&D).
The idea was that you would be given an objective at the beginning of the week (like survive until the end, or uncover the murderer); each day is split into day and night, and you have a certain amount of energy points that you can spend to move between the different rooms of the lab. Each character has different abilities, so to reach your objective you might need to team up with another player.
I was chosen as the lead developer for this project, and we used a scrum-like approach. I coded most of the game client and I also developed a tool to allow designers to define clickable areas in each room.
If got interested in the concept, you can read some more detailed information on our Assembla page.
